Like so many other long-drivers Ryan, who was a college pitcher for the Utah Utes, got into the sport after a buddy of his told Ryan that he had just been at the world long-drive championships, and that after watching those top guys in action, he believed that Ryan had the distance to have a shot at the highest level of the sport.Ī short time later, Ryan watched a telecast of fellow Utah native and fellow pitcher for Utah State Jerimie Montgomery on a TV video, and he was hooked. We say that Ryan has one-hand-tied-behind-his- back, because while those younger competitors are all working in related jobs leading up to any particular long-drive event such as, performing golf exhibitions or offering golf instruction or conducting golf-related physical training, Ryan Reisbeck is sitting in his coat-and-tie behind an office desk, working on his jobs in insurance and real estate, and… while most of those young competitors jet off to the event site on the day before the event, Ryan often has already left a day earlier in order to get there in time after packing his lovely wife Sarah and their five children into the family SUV…telling them that they will be on another family vacation.Īt 6’4” in height and 250 pounds, the former University of Utah pitcher “The Big Deal” as he is called has been a major factor in long-drive for the past nine years. It should be a pretty exciting year, and I hope we are able to be competitive with a chance at being near the top at the end of the season.… For a 42-year-old married man with five children to be able to compete against youngsters half his age in a sport that requires the utmost in finely honed physical skills is pretty amazing however, Ryan Reisbeck continues to do exactly that and he does it with one hand tied behind his back. Crestview returns some players that were young last year but really started playing well towards the end of the season. Plymouth had a really good team as well with a second-place finish, and I believe they will return everyone, so they will be a tough team to beat. League prediction - “Mapleton had a fantastic season last year, winning the Firelands Conference, and I imagine they will be looking to do that again this year since they do return a decent amount of players. Hopefully, they are patient and understand the best way to learn is from experiencing some bad days.” - Parr I think they have all the abilities to excel and do well but, with being so young, they both have things to learn and will definitely have ups and downs throughout the season. Team weaknesses - “We are still a fairly young team and, as of right now, I will have two freshmen playing in my top five. They have done everything asked of them, and I hope it pays off once the season starts.” - Parr I am so thankful for all of their work and time they have put in this summer, whether it be with me or on their own. The second strength for our team is their willingness to put in the time and effort to improve their golf game. So, this year I am happy that he gets another chance at it for his senior year. Last year, he played great again but came up short at sectionals and did not advance to districts. Carter had an amazing sophomore year two years ago and ended up placing 24th out of 109 golfers at the district tournament. Team strengths - “The first strength is the leader of our team in Carter Eibel. We set some goals that we didn’t achieve and are looking to right the ship this year.” - Parr As a team, we were disappointed in last year record-wise, even though I feel we improved greatly throughout the season. This summer has been great in terms of how the team has been preparing. This year, we are still pretty young, but we have more experienced players coming into the season.

Team differences between this season and last - “Last season, we were very inexperienced and young.
